2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant Review

by kot

Usually you wouldn't expect much from a refresh, but the 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant has enough updates to be called new. Available as a Sedan or Avant wagon, it is based on the same platform and uses all the traditional Audi strengths while adding some flair to both exterior and interior design. The intention was to bring brand image into focus in North American market. And the result, 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant, definitely offers some attitude.

First impression of the car is its looks and the 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant makes a good one. Although not the only new exterior feature, the most obvious, of course, is the 'single frame' grille, inspired by the Audi Nuvolari quattro concept car. The car's front is now unmistakable. The A4 has also grown a little, by 41 mm for the sedan, and with that came slightly more room for the rear-seat passengers.

Speaking of the interior, as unlikely as it may sound, Audi has actually made some improvements to the cabin. Being a benchmark for automotive interiors for some time now, they have managed to find even richer textures, more pleasing materials and more exquisite tailoring to keep up with the reputation for supreme comfort and style. There is also a full range of safety technologies on board, including side-curtain airbags, a smart electronic stability control system and stronger side impact beams.

On the road the 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant stays sharp and confident. The revised suspension gives a firm but not choppy ride. The steering is quick and precise with very little body roll when turning round the corners sharply. The new large brakes deserve a special attention as they bring the A4 down from speed in a very short time. The engine feels and sounds smooth, powerful and gives a boost of confidence to the driver.

The Audi A4 has always been superb value for money with its build quality, beautiful interior and overall confidence on the road. The 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant brings it up a notch, setting new benchmarks for the company and certainly its competitors.

The original A4, introduced nearly a decade ago, transformed the popularity of Audi in the US market, but the 2006 model seems to have all the qualities to be considered the most important one.

The award winning line that saved Audi in 1996 from falling behind has done it again. Audi have come forward with a new 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant their hands with the round of innovations that nearly qualifies for a new generation. The A4 Avant has had a complete facelift from inside and out. It is more angular at the rear, has a double snout-like grille, chrome exhaust pipes and is bigger in its overall dimensions.

It comes standard with a five-speed manual and you can have the CVT as an option. The interior is as sophisticated and elegant as it always is when it comes to Audi cars.

Everything is done to perfection, exquisitely finished and upholstered with high-quality materials. Some of the controls could take some time to get used to, but the overall sleek and classy design makes A4 Avant one of the finest cars in the luxury car entry.

The trunk is deep and spacious, especially enhanced in Avants due to its body style, and all 3.2 come with dual-zone automatic climate control, one-touch windows and an in-dash six-CD changer as standard. It shows excellent results on the road as well.

The A4 Avant is amazingly well balanced, responsive and easy to handle. Its new retuned suspension soaks up all the bumps for a smooth ride, so it is perfect for day-to-day driving. All Avants have quattro all-wheel drive.

For the price of around $23,000-$24,000, the 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Avant will definitely be close to the top of the list for many buyers.

The Only One of Its Kind - The ZL1 Corvette

by David Atkin

Since I haven’t talked a lot about the ZL1 Corvette, I figured that I’d take an opportunity to chat about one of the meanest cars ever built by man kind, this car was most certainly at the top of the food chain as far as muscle cars and sports cars built in the USA during the 1960’s, well this one had a very short run at the end of the 1960’s, or in 1969, what I mean by short is there were only two of them ever built.

The ZL1 engine was conceived of to drag race the 1969 Camaro in

Jaguar XJ8 L: Old-World Luxury Meets Modern Sport

by David Bellm

For ages the Holy Grail of luxury-car recipes has been to somehow blend sumptuous richness with sleek high-tech sport. But rarely are the fruits of such compromise anything close to perfect. For instance, when attempting this blend, really sporty luxury cars tend to look thinly contrived when they try to be Olde-Worlde traditional at the same time. Likewise for plush quasi limos that attempt any sort of athletic sportiness.

One of the few cars that's arguably pulled off this blend with deep genuineness is Jaguar's luxury flagship, the XJ8.

These big sedans are offered in base XJ8 and hotter XJR models on

Chevrolet Camaro - The Definitive Muscle Car

by Ryan Larson

The Chevrolet Camaro was a "pony car" introduced by General Motors in 1967 to compete with the Ford Mustang, which by the way was conceived to compete with the Chevrolet Corvair Monza. There are four distinctive generations of Camaro's, 1967-1970, 1970 1/2 - 1980, 1982-1992, and the fourth and final generation was 1993-2002.

The first generation Camaro featured a unibody construction from the windshield to the firewall back and a separate steel frame for everything upfront.
