Audi... No Longer The Redheaded Stepchild

by Amy Covington

Who's this beauty getting asked to the prom more than the other European sedans? That would be the new Audi A8 turning heads up and down the Autobahn, French Riviera and Highway1. Audi with their huge R&D investment has struck gold with its masterfully crafted, flagship sedan, the Audi A8 L 6.0. Comfortable, fast, and smooth are the adjectives roaring throughout the automotive industry heralding Audi's ascent to the top of the mountain alongside Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The A8 L 6.0, with its 6.0-liter, V12 engine, delivers mightily with a whopping 440 horsepower. This car goes from zero to 60 in five seconds and has a governed-top speed of 155 mph. How's that for politically correct? Want more? It is more fuel-efficient than preceding models, equipped with the six-speed, Porsche Tiptronic® automatic transmission. The upgraded transmission provides instant responsiveness and acceleration, while the Quattro® all-wheel drive and an adaptable air suspension provide a smoother ride and improved handling.

Inside, the driver finds a cabin equally stylish and comfortable as the exterior. And Audi's Multi-Media Interface simplifies usage of controls for numerous features grants leeway for a relaxed, pleasurable driving experience. With the complexity of dashboard gadgetry becoming more comparable to control panels found in a 747's cockpit, it is wonderfully refreshing to have today's most advanced technological benefits without needing engineering courses to learn how to operate all the switches. It is Audi's way of tossing in a dose of painless progress with a dash of old-school common sense.

Want even more? The A8 has two more variants of this splendid sedan, the A8 and the A8 L 4.2. Both have a smaller engine and wheelbase along with a lower, yet still substantial, price tag.

Chevrolet Trailblazer 2005: The Weekly Driver Review

by James Raia

With the addition of the 5.3-liter, 325-horsepower V8 extended cab (EXT), eight Chevrolet Trailblazer models are on the road in 2005. And as the largest and most powerful Blazer available, the new EXT has plenty to offer.

It's comfortable and provides a confident drive. It offers vast cargo space, has an attractive two-tone interior, a well-designed console and boasts of plenty of impressive option packages.

But sometimes subtle qualities or subtle deficiencies are more impressive or problematic than a vehicle's overt characteristics.

So it is with the new Blazer. While recently showing the car to several friends, one sat in the second row

The Only One of Its Kind - The ZL1 Corvette

by David Atkin

Since I haven’t talked a lot about the ZL1 Corvette, I figured that I’d take an opportunity to chat about one of the meanest cars ever built by man kind, this car was most certainly at the top of the food chain as far as muscle cars and sports cars built in the USA during the 1960’s, well this one had a very short run at the end of the 1960’s, or in 1969, what I mean by short is there were only two of them ever built.

The ZL1 engine was conceived of to drag race the 1969 Camaro in

Raw Excitement For The Jeep Hurricane

by Jenny McLane

"Designing a functional prototype from an idea in such a short time was challenging. It was a tremendous feeling when everything functioned as designed the first time" said Brett Wallihan, MillenWorks Design Engineer, "You just don’t expect a vehicle to rotate around its own axis like that. It was surreal."

This statement summed up for the high praises and awe the crowd bestowed on the Jeep Hurricane took center stage at the Detroit auto show DaimlerChrysler Corporation press conference.

Innovative in style, the Jeep Hurricane included a centrally located twin-engine transfer case, in-board brakes, drive shafts, front and rear steering, and complete

Honda SUV's Like The Honda CR-V Can Be Traced Back To The Honda Civic Platform

by Steven Johnston

One of the most popular Honda SUV’s on the market is the Honda CR-V, which is considered to be what is called a ‘crossover’ SUV. This Honda SUV is a car that has an SUV or sport utility vehicle look but is assembled on a more economical construction. The Honda SUV, CR-V, was ‘copied’ from the extremely popular Honda Civic in order to meet a growing demand for a SUV made by Honda. The letters CR-V stand for “comfortable runabout vehicle” and comes with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The very first Honda SUV that was planned ‘in house’ by Honda was the CR-V in 1996. While
